7 Signs You Need Your Website Redesigned

November 22, 2020

We must consider that digital marketing is one the fastest changing industry in the world.

The world doesn’t change that much in a year.

But in digital marketing, three to five years… there is a huge shift.

In design principles, customer expectations.

Consider the last five years and the rise in mobile phone usage.

There are some clear-cut signs that your website may need to be redesigned.

We thought we would explore some of the main reasons we have redesigned customer websites.

Does your website suffer from any of the following?

It may be time for a website redesign.

Outdated Design & Content

The biggest reason to redesign your website is that it’s become outdated.

The design is no longer modern and doesn’t fit current standards and the expectations of your customers.

An update may not be the best way to fix the problem.

A total redesign may be the better option.

How do you know when your website is ‘outdated’?

If your website was designed over two years ago, the design is probably outdated.

It could be outdated if you have failed to update it for more than 6-12 months.

No Access To Update

A website redesign may be the only option.

One of the main issues our customers face is they have no access to be able to update their websites.

This is usually in the hands of the website provider, and if they are not responsive (or have excessive charges), then you’re doomed.

If you have a website, with no access to update it, it’s a lost cause already.

The solution?

Take the content you have, develop it, and build a new website.

And make sure you have access to updates in the future.

Vulnerable/No SSL Certificate

Having a valid SSL certificate for your website is an essential.

Installing an SSL certificate on your website has many benefits:

  • Protects customer data
  • Better search engine rankings
  • Zatisfy requirements for online payments
  • Improves customer trust

There is one more thing…

It’s mandatory for ranking on Google.

Do you understand how importance that is?

When you do redesign your website, make sure it’s on a secured ‘https://’ domain name, with an SSL certificate installed.

Again…

Without an SSL certificate, your website will not display on any Google search.

Lack of Engagement (Or Results)

Lack of engagement is usually caused by the user experience on the website.

It’s true that website may not reach the requirements of Google.

That would severely impact the reach of your website.

But it doesn’t matter how many people you get to visit your website, and where they come from…

When your website is designed poorly, you could be damaging your business reputation…

And losing customers.

If you are lacking a response to your website…

It’s probably time for a redesign.

No Longer Reflects Needs Of Business

Your business may have outgrown your website.

From new services, new target audience, new focus for the business.

There are a million reasons why you would outgrow your website.

There’s a lot to consider when you build your website.

Your website should be responsive to your needs.

Over one year, two year, three year, you will inevitably outgrow your website.

It makes you wonder: are websites worth it unless they are managed?

Keeping your website up to date regularly will avoid this problem.

But if you have outgrown your current website builder, content management system, or the service you are currently receiving from your website designer, it may be time to switch.

Mobile Optimised

57% of people say they wouldn’t do business with a company that had a poorly designed website on their mobile.

Ensuring your website works well on mobiles, should be priority.

It’s safe to assume that more than 80% of your traffic may be from mobile phones.

Create your website for mobiles-first.

Then optimise for desktop.

And if your website is not fully responsive for mobile phones?

It may indeed be time for a website design.

No Support From Current Service

It’s astonishing some of the stories we have heard from our customers.

What many people find is, they get promised the world.

And they get next to nothing.

Promises for “keywords” or approached over-and-over again for “more money for Google optimisation.”

And then, nothing.

No updates, no results.

Nobody wants that for their business.

Your website should represent your business.

It should be the primary representation of your business.

You want to be able to direct people there and be certain that it’s been updated.

It may even be regularly improved.

And who wants to spend their time updating their website?

Save yourself the energy.

Forget the do-it-yourself model that Wix sells you on.

Forget the web developer who wants £500 up-front for a website, full of false promises and soon-to-be broken dreams.

Forget the website that isn’t updated on your request.

Nobody can support you better than a pay-monthly service (see our reasons why).
